6-day Lima, Cusco and Urubamba Tour
Day 1 LIMA

Upon arrival to the Lima airport, you will be met by one of our representatives who will take you to your hotel, where you can rest and energize for your Peru journey.

Breakfast will be served, and afterwards you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Once in Cusco, you will be transferred to your hotel, where you can prepare for your afternoon tour in Cusco.

Cusco was the capital of the Inca Empire and is one of the most beautiful cities in Peru. You will be amazed by its architecture, plazas, and history.

We will start our visit at the Cathedral of Cusco. This Gothic-Renaissance style church took almost 100 years to be completed, and it holds some of the most valuable treasures of the Peruvian colonial art. Inside this church you will find some of the best samples of what was called La Escuela Cusqueña – a fusion of the European art with the culture and “cosmovision” of the locals. You will be amazed by the silver altar and the great richness that this cathedral holds.

We will continue to the temple of the sun, Koricancha. This was the most important sanctuary during the Inca period, and it was said that precious jewels and gold plates were attached to the walls of the temple. During the colonial period, the Santo Domingo monastery was built over the temple, preserving most of the original temple’s stone walls and architecture, and simply placing the Spanish construction over the Inca temple. We will tour this site and learn more about its past and present.

After this visit, we will visit some of the most important ruins near this city.

We will start at Sacsayhuaman, where the Palace of the Inca was built. Nowadays, a few stone walls and gateways are all that remain of what was once the most important Inca fortress of Cusco.

Continuing our Cusco city tour, we will visit the Amphitheatre of Kenco and its mysterious labyrinth that leads to a ceremonial cavern, where healing rituals were performed. We will then approach the fortress of Puca Pucara, and finally end our tour at the amazing baths of Tambomachay. Here, you will be amazed by its fountains and its everlasting flow of water.

We will spend the night in Cusco.

On the third day of our Peru tour, we will visit the Sacred Valley of the Inca in Urubamba. The Valley was the main source of food for the empire, which is why it was a sacred place for them. There was nothing more important to the empire than the constant supply of food. We will visit the salt mines of Maras and be dazzled by the spectacle of the different colors that the different minerals give the salt. Continuing our trip, we will visit one of the most important achievements of the Inca culture and perhaps one of the most important agricultural contributions of the Inca – the terraces for harvesting. These terraces gave the Inca an advantage over other civilizations since they were able to recreate different micro climates and harvest their products more efficiently, and especially because it allowed them to use the steep slopes of the mountains in which they settled in a more efficient way.

We will have lunch, and then we will visit the town and Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo, this picturesque town still holds much of its Inca spirit, and on top of the hill, we will find the fortress from which the Inca defended the city from invaders. Finally, we will visit the market of Pisac, where you will find some beautiful silver jewels among other unique handicrafts.

Overnight at Urubamaba.

We will be transferred to the Ollantatambo train station, where we will board the train with the destination of Aguas Calientes, a charming town that looks to be lost in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by misty mountains, and with warm weather. This town will be the beginning of an unforgettable experience.

Once in Aguas Calientes, you will be met by one of our representatives and transferred to the entrance of the lost city of Machu Picchu. Here you will be part of a unique experience exploring the ruins of this long-lost city, unveiling its secrets and enjoying the natural setting that surround the lost city.

You will spend the night at this marvelous area.

We will have breakfast at the hotel, and you will have all morning for you to explore the lost city of Machu Picchu by yourself.

In the afternoon, you will take the train to the Poroy train station, where one of our staff members will take you to your hotel for a good night sleep.

In the morning, you will be transferred to the Cusco airport for your flight to Lima and your international connections.
